Canada, Irishness and Performance: Opening the DebateGraduate Centre for Study of Drama, University of Toronto |
About
Welcome to the conference website for the Irish Theatrical Diaspora's 8th Annual conference. This year, our focus is on the Irish theatrical diaspora in Canada. We plan to investigate the nature and scope of Irish performance across the country, and develop a sense of the scholarship being conducted on these topics.
The conference features a diversity of panels, keynotes and performances, as well as a special 'homecoming' reception for Ann Saddlemyer, former Master of Massey College. On the Friday evening, Ann will be interviewing Jackie Maxwell, Artistic Director of the Shaw Festival, who is herself originally from Ireland. Our second keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Lisa Fitzpatrick, who teaches Irish theatre in Derry, Northern Ireland, and who has worked on Irish plays both in Canada and in Ireland. Please see the Program page for a full list of our exciting lineup, the Locations page for directions, and the Registration page for information on how to attend. You can also download the official Press Release.
I hope you can join us!
